When Should I Replace My Furnace?

A dying furnace has its warning signs, but they might not be inherently obvious. Here are a few hints that it may be time to replace your furnace:
    1. Your furnace is old. When properly maintained, the average lifespan of a furnace is 15 to 20 years. If you’ve had your furnace for a while, it may be time to replace it completely. Check out our specials for more information on saving money when replacing an HVAC unit in your home!
    2. There are hot and cold spots in your home. Uneven heating can occur when a furnace begins to get older. If you are sure that cold areas in your home aren’t due to poor insulation, your furnace may be to blame.
    3. Airflow is poor. If you can’t actually feel the air coming from your vents, there’s a problem with your furnace.
    4. Your bills are on the rise. This may be the most obvious sign that your furnace is on it’s last legs. An old furnace is less energy efficient, resulting in more energy usage and, yes, higher bills. If you feel that you are paying more for heat now than you were a few years ago, it’s most likely due to a dying furnace.
